The Lady Hawks Volleyball Team look make another run at the postseason in 2025
The Lady Hawks Volleyball Team is poised to make another run at the postseason in 2025. The program returns 4 starters from 2024: setter, Eva Rovello; opp, Emilia Arvidson; outside hitter, Pamela De Jesus Tejedor; and outside hitter, Ida Almkvist. Sophomore Maria Watroba is also poised to play a factor as a pin hitter.
"We have a lot of match experience from our sophomore class, which will help the transition for our freshmen," explained Head Coach Gary Larkin. "Our addition of New Mexico Military College transfer setter Bibi Testa was also critical."
The 2025 Hawks saw the promotion of sophomore libero Aubree Hummel who hails from Tampa, and the integration of two first time starters in the middle including Kayla Debelak, who returned from surgery, and Miya Weintraub from nearby Fort Myers.
The Fort Myers area was especially good to Hillsborough College as the Hawks signed two more high potential prospects in outside hitter, Maleda Azunque, and libero, Bailey Smallwood. Orlando, FL libero prospect Crystaliz Peral joins this talented group of in-state recruits.
"All of our Florida players have had excellent coaching in high school and their club organizations, so I know we can hit the ground running," noted Larkin. "They will all play a role this year."
That last two additions are high flying middle prosects Anyla Denison from New Orleans and Tyauna Williams from Jacksonville. They both could grow into large roles as the season progresses.
The Lady Hawks will spend the first two weekends playing in two of the toughest tournaments in the nation. They will attend FSW's Battle at the Beach and Salt Lake's Crystal Inn Invitational. Both will be loaded with top-20 programs.
"We will play 10 matches in 10 days before preparing for our conference season," said Larkin. "We will quickly find out who we are and what we need to do chase our championship goals.
